The Follow-up Interview (continued)

Do you recall where in Cincinnati the ESTA/Ransom recordings were done and do you have any recollections about the recording sessions themselves, e.g., who was present, how they were run, the recording technology, etc? Do you know what became of the masters?
MW: Those recordings were done in King Recording Studios in Cincinnati. Those present were The Tommy Will Orchestra, The Columbus Pharaohs, Howard Ransom, Eve Dodd and her husband, and the in-house studio staff. We used an in-house echo chamber for balance. Several mikes were put around the instruments, the background and the lead. That was it. The recording was done on a reel-to-reel tape. The masters are lost.

You noted that the 4 Pharaohs did some national touring between 1958 and 1959, including Carnegie Recital Hall in NYC. Were the Pharaohs touring solo or with other acts? How large were the crowds?
MW: We were with a variety of young artists. The crowds were very large.

Regarding the USO shows in the Far East . . . . . what countries? Who else was on the tour?
MW: The countries were Korea, Japan, Guam, the Philippines, Guadalcanal and several other islands. The tour consisted of just my show, “Morris Wade & The Lockhearts”.
