The Hillside compilation LP was recorded at McKenzie Studios on the south side of Columbus in 1966. Local garage bands paid a small fee to record a cut at McKenzie Studios and, when enough cuts from other bands were collected, the Hillside Compilation LP was pressed. It is unknown exactly how many copies were pressed, but it is safe to say that it was probably only a couple of hundred at best. They were intended to be used as demos for finding gigs and, probably more importantly, for impressing friends, especially the girls. Decades later, the Hillside '66 Comp continues to be a highly sought-after treasure that is one of the few existing audio snapshots of the garage band sounds that were happening in the Columbus area during the mid-sixties. A number of the cuts from this LP have appeared on garage band comp CD's around the world.
